We all know that after a long period of use, truck scales tend to experience a decrease in accuracy. At this point, calibration of the truck scales is necessary. However, compared to buying weighing weights for calibration, the cost could actually purchase several more truck scales, making it uneconomical. Nevertheless, we cannot neglect the issue of insufficient accuracy of the truck scales. Zhengzhou HSD Machinery Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. teaches a few tricks to calibrate truck scales without the use of weights.
The first method
1.Before use, calibrate the standard sensor and the matching weighing instrument on a force measuring machine (or weights).
2.Using the matching weighing instrument, fine-tune each jack so that each point receives a small force and the forces at each point are balanced.
3.Place the standard sensor on top of the vehicle scale sensor loading plate, and position the jacks between the frame of the standard sensor, adjusting the position of all three to ensure that the center axes of the jacks, standard sensor, and vehicle scale sensors align.
4.Operate the vehicle scale weighing instrument to zero the display.
5.Determine the weight that should be added for calibration, calculate the average weight that should be added at each point, and adjust the jacks to load evenly according to the readings of the matching weighing instrument. Once the required weight is displayed and stabilized, promptly calibrate the vehicle scale weighing instrument.
6.After calibration is completed, either load or unload the jack, compare the matched weighing instrument with the vehicle scale's weighing instrument at each weight range, and calculate the accuracy of the vehicle scale.
The second method is very similar to the first method. Taking a 3m×18m 100-ton truck scale as an example, first find a heavy truck, whose weight is around 40 to 50 tons. The heavier the vehicle, the higher the accuracy of the calibrated truck scale will be, but it must not exceed the size and maximum weight capacity of the calibrated truck scale. Measure the weight on another accurate platform scale and note down the exact figure. Operate the truck scale weighing instrument, making sure the display shows zero. Then, weigh the heavy truck directly on the 3m×18m truck scale that needs calibration and see how much the weight differs from the previous measurement. Then, operate the weighing instrument and set it according to the difference.
These two methods are applicable to platform scales of 1.5m×1.5m, in-ground scales of 3m×15m, and above-ground scales. When using the second method, it is important to note that the calibration vehicle used should not exceed the maximum weighing capacity of the truck scale. The heavier the vehicle within this range, the higher the accuracy of the calibrated truck scale.
